Sioux Songs

Translations.
1976, Blue Cloud Quarterly

This little chapbook of translations was published by Brother Benet at the Blue Cloud Abbey in Marvin, South Dakota in 1976. It is one of many in a series of publications to come out of the Abbey, honoring Native American literature and traditions. My translations are “free” but I worked closely from the original texts as I found them, usually in Francis Densmore’s Teton Sioux Music.
