the Boys' House: New & Selected Stories
2001, Minnesota Historical Society Press
Frankly, I didn’t know this book was going to happen. Then, out of nowhere (or, at least, out of nowhere that I expected) came this invitation from Ted Genoways, editor at the Minnesota Historical Society Press.
He knew that two of my earlier collections of short-short stories about ‘the boys’ were out of print and was inquiring to see if I might be interested in seeing them back in print. Since I had written many new stories about the boys since those earlier books had gone out of print, I suggested a ‘new and selected.’
This is what happened.
Best known for his short-short stories about “the boys,” Jim Heynen has published widely as a writer of poems, novels, nonfiction, and short fiction.
